THE GURU GURU has been happily dealing in borderline rock since 2012, combining feverishly angular guitars with off-kilter, poly-rhythms all complimented by erratic and unhinged vocals.
While influences are drawn from the likes of METZ, Pere Ubu, Deerhoof, The Jesus Lizard, The Mars Volta & Andy Kaufman, the indie-math- psycho-noise rulebook is torn apart, resulting in erratic songs that somehow seem to develop into wriggling earworms.
Praised for their live performances, THE GURU GURU is a must-see… With palpable, electric energy oozing from the stage, vocalist Tom Adriaenssens balances on the verge of theatrical psychosis.
TGG has made their mark playing across Europe sharing stages with the likes of Brutus, Raketkanon and Kapitan Korsakov as well as appearing at festivals such as ArcTanGent (UK), Portals (UK), Ment (SLO), Monkey Week (ESP), Rock Herk (BE), Sziget (HU) and Pukkelpop (BE).
TGG struck back with a new batch of songs that wriggle themselves into your ears, as well as several live versions of tracks from their sophomore album ‘Point Fingers’ on their new double EP ‘It’s a (Doggy Dog) World’ & ‘Live in Antwerp’. The double EP is set to be released on the 25th of June 2021. An EP with 4 new songs and 4 live songs from the ‘Point Fingers’ album. The EP will be available on vinyl with on the A-side the EP ‘It’s a (Doggy Dog) World’ and on the B-side the EP ‘Live in Antwerp’. ‘It’s a (Doggy Dog) World’ will also be released digitally and on CD.
- HEISA
Zelden dekte een bandnaam zo goed de lading als bij HEISA, drie Limburgse heren met de benen stevig op de grond en muzikaal goud in de handen. Bezeten en bemeten. Onbehaaglijk en bezwerend. Desoriënterend en toch catchy. HEISA is het allemaal, en het liefst tegelijk.
In de traditie van contraire bands die zich uitstrekken van Tool, over Battles tot Black Midi dolt het trio met ritmes, sferen en effecten. Geduldig opgebouwde spanning doorbreken ze op raak gekozen momenten met pijnigende gitaren en golven van distortion. De zang trekt niet alle aandacht naar zich toe, maar is een extra instrument. Het resultaat: een volstrekt unieke sound.
